Welcome to the new Seascape Ecology Lab web page

Updated: May 6

A new lab deserves a new website! Over the last six months we've been working hard to get the new Seascape Ecology lab up and running in NSU's Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography at the beautiful Dania Beach campus. As we continue to get things rolling, we'll have plenty of news to share about the work we're doing here so check back regularly for updates.

The Seascape Ecology lab will focus on understanding the distributions, drivers, and behaviors of mobile deep-sea organisms and the connections they create within and between different deep-sea ecosystems, from the surface ocean to the seafloor. My work has a strong applied focus, and I am particularly interested in understanding these complex, dynamic ecosystems so that we can generate scientifically sound advice for resource managers as we face an increasing range of local and global threats to our marine ecosystems. Hopefully, the work we do here will have some real impact in the management and conservation of these poorly understood ecosystems.
