We are delighted to announce that we have a new manuscript out today in the Journal of Applied Ichthyology. The paper is titled "Length–Weight Relationships of 68 Mesopelagic Fish Species From a Subtropical Ocean Basin" and was a huge effort led by two of my MS students (Ian Areford and Sidney Trimble). They used specimens from the extensive DEEPEND collections captured over the past 15 years to develop a series of allometric relationships describing 68 of the most common mesopelagic fishes from six families inhabiting the northern Gulf of Mexico. This dataset greatly expands the available relationships for midwater fishes, and will be used extensively in our future research work examining size structuring and biomass patterns in the fishes through time.

The paper is open access, and can be found at this link: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1155/jai/4473256
