Deep-Sea Benefits Program to Study Benthic-Pelagic Coupling

Updated: May 9

We are delighted to have received NOAA funding for a new Deep-Sea Benefits research program to explore benthic-pelagic coupling around the upper shelf of the northern Gulf of Mexico, specifically to examine associations between pelagic fauna and benthic habitats of interest. This program will integrate work from the existing DEEPEND research program, and from the Mesophotic and Deep Benthic Communities (MDBC) NOAA program. The research program begins in September 2024 and will run for four years in total.
